Gillian Scott, CA, CPA, CFA

In addition to her current role as Co-Founder and Principal at Beaumont, Gillian has had an accomplished career as a senior finance and operations executive, having previously run the back office of a $6 billion Bermuda-based foundation. With more than 25 years of experience in alternative assets, Gillian is a well-established expert in operational due diligence. Gillian spent over 11 years of her career in Bermuda. She has refined her management and organizational skills in positions at the Atlantic Philanthropies, Castle Hall Alternatives and PricewaterhouseCoopers. In addition to her extensive experience in the field, Gillian is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder. She also oversees Beaumont’s finance function and manages Beaumont’s operations and client relationships.

Gillian continues to be involved in the endowment and foundations world, currently serving as a member of the QEII Health Sciences Centre Foundation’s (“QEII”) Investment Committee. She is also an Honorary Trustee for the QEII, having previously spent 8 years on the board and serving on the Executive and Finance and Audit committees.

Lori Barton, CA, CPA, CFA

A Co-Founder and Principal at Beaumont, Lori is a highly-skilled specialist, having concentrated the majority of her career in alternative assets and operational due diligence. Her ability to identify and analyze operational issues was developed while employed in senior roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Union Bancaire Privée, Castle Hall Alternatives and Merrill Lynch International. Having worked in Bermuda, London and Halifax during her 25-year career, her industry knowledge is extensive. She is also a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder. In addition to leading operational due diligence reviews, she also oversees Beaumont’s strategic business initiatives and marketing efforts. Lori is a dedicated member of the community having volunteered for several years with Big Brothers, Big Sisters and serving as a board member and as chair of the audit and risk committee of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce.

Shenna LaPointe, MSc, MBA, CAIA

Shenna joined Beaumont as a Principal in 2013. With over 13 years of experience in alternative assets and operational due diligence, she has led hundreds of manager reviews while working at Beaumont and her previous employer, Castle Hall Alternatives. Shenna is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst. She graduated from Saint Mary’s University with a Master’s in Business Administration and from Dalhousie University with a Master’s in Science, focusing on theoretical chemistry. During Shenna’s academic career, she was awarded numerous honors and fellowships and was the author of several academic journal articles. She now applies her research skills and analytical capabilities in assessing operational risk for Beaumont’s clients. In addition to client work, Shenna also oversees Beaumont’s product development, recruiting and training programs.

Chris Cassidy, CA, CPA, CFA

Chris joined the Beaumont Advisors team as a Director in January 2020. Chris has 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, with a majority of this time spent delivering operational due diligence services to investors and hedge fund managers while at Amber Partners (2006-2019). He is an ODD industry expert, responsible for leading due diligence meetings and providing bespoke reporting and engagements. Chris also has experience in the regulatory arena, having worked at the Bermuda Monetary Authority where he was responsible for ongoing regulation and reviews of local investment business and the Bermuda alternative investments funds sector. He began his career with KPMG as part of the Financial Institutions and Real Estate Group in Toronto before moving to Bermuda with PricewaterhouseCoopers where he focused on alternative investments. Chris is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder. He graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Business Administration with Honours.

Cory Brown, CA, CPA, CFA

Cory began employment with Beaumont in 2018 and is currently a Senior Manager with the firm. Prior to Beaumont, Cory worked in Deloitte’s audit practice in both Vancouver and the Cayman Islands, where his clients included public and private companies as well as pension plans and hedge funds. Cory is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder. Cory holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Major in Accounting) from Saint Francis Xavier University. Cory serves as Treasurer of the Canadian Interprofessional Health Collaborative, a non-profit organization seeking to improve collaboration within the healthcare system.

James Winsor, CAIA

James initially joined Beaumont in 2015. He departed in January 2020 to pursue external experience on the Operational Risk team at MUFG Investor Services before rejoining Beaumont in January 2022 as a Manager. James attended Saint Francis Xavier University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Major in Accounting) in 2014. Additionally, he is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst. He has volunteer experience as a mentor with Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia as well as volunteering annually with the Salvation Christmas Kettle drive.
